It started innocently enough: Someone mused that maybe it was time to contemplate a choir tour. Someone else furthered the notion, conjecturing that it’s “our turn”, (sidebar: if you’ve sung in the Faith and Life Women’s Chorus, you’ll know about the good-natured sparring that occurs when it comes to being compared to the Men’s Choir), and then the topic jumped to “where should we go"? And a tour was born.
The Faith and Life Women’s Chorus is a branch of Mennonite Church Manitoba’s church community building ministry. Twenty-six singers were able to commit to an excursion to the Netherlands and Germany for two weeks in July, where congregations and communities have welcomed us with open arms. Our itinerary includes singing for audiences in the Netherlands (Sneek, Ouddorp), Germany (Neuwied, Rothenburg, Fellbach, Freiburg) and Strasburg, France, with much sightseeing and visiting enroute.
The trip is sponsored in part by The Kuhl Foundation Inc. and Golden West Radio.
Stay tuned for interviews with Golden West’s Michelle Sawatzky as the tour unfolds.
Those who are interested might wish to follow the itinerary posted on this blog.
